PrintWe all understand the importance of creating a safe and secure learning environment, ensuring that students are able to conduct their studies with as few distractions as possible, but creating this environment can be a difficult process too big for just one district to take on. It takes involvement from a community of professionals each with their own ideas and expertise to add to the conversation. Creating a place where these community members can come together is something the New York State School Facilities Association (or NYSSFA) has been doing since the late 1950’s. The organization started as a trade association for Directors of School Buildings and Grounds but has grown over the years to involve more faculty and staff from schools all across Upstate New York.

In 2013, just over 10 billion dollars were spent on renovations, additions, or new schools in America, according to the Annual School Construction Report. Of this $1.25 billion was spent in the New York region. The New York State School Facilities Association work to try to make sure that these buildings are crafted with the upmost quality ensuring that they will not only create a safe and cleaning learning environment but one that will last for years to come. The downward sloping trend of money spent on renovations suggest that this association and ones like it have been successful in increasing the longevity of these buildings, meaning they require less money to maintain.

NYSSFA 2NYSSFA provides their members with support, information, and tools they need to get the job done right. These containers come in both our standard 20’ and 40’ models and are always available upon request.
