Watkins Glen 1 and feature imageMost people aren’t as lucky as we are to have a NASCAR Road Course like Watkins Glen International right here in our own backyard. The track has been a permanent circuit since 1956 but prior to that, public roads in the village were used as the race course, showing the community’s dedication to the sport. From the day the course opened, they have held some impressive road racing events like Formula One, World Sportscar Championship, Trans-Am, Can-Am, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, IndyCar Series, and much more.

This year, Watkins Glen International signed a multi-year sanction agreement with NASCAR. This means that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return to The Glen for a long time to come. The article states that this deal has a $205 Million economic impact on the region. In addition to NASCAR being the premier event, the historic Sahlen’s Six Hours at The Glen is quickly becoming one of the most must see events on the track. From Porsches to Ferraris, drivers come from all over to be a part of the six hour race.

In more recent years, A-Verdi Storage Containers has been a proud sponsor of Watkins Glen International providing space for storage, medical personnel, ticket booths, and more. We have even left our mark on the track as you can drive through the tunnel on turn three to the infield and see the mock A-Verdi shipping containers on either side of the tunnels interior.

Although we here at A-Verdi love our racing we are also proud to sponsor some other great events at Watkins Glen. This year we will be celebrating the Finger Lakes Wine Festival’s 20th anniversary. Being one of the largest wine tasting events in the region, the festival is always a blast and has become a staple at the Glen. Later, this fall, we are proud to sponsor another great tasting event, the Finger Lakes Beer Festival, which is held annually and features some of the regions finest craft beers.

Being a part of such a historic institution is not only a pleasure but an honor. We’re excited to see how the newly paved surface enhances this year’s race season and we can’t wait to see you there!
